The Bowling Green Massacre: how the world reacted

The most shocking attack of 2017… because it never happened.

The most shocking attack of 2017… because it never happened.

Well, that’s a bit of a lie. Actually, the whole thing is a bit of a lie. This is a bit confusing – confusing is the wrong word – it’s unbelievable. But, it happened. And no, I’m not talking about the Bowling Green Massacre.

On MSNBC on Thursday evening, Kellyanne Conway essentially made up a terrorist attack as an excuse for vetting Iraqi refugees. “I bet it’s brand new information to people that President Obama had a six-month ban on the Iraqi refugee program after two Iraqis came here to this country, were radicalised and they were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green massacre.”

“Most people don’t know that because it didn’t get covered.”

It didn’t get covered – because it simply didn’t happen. There has never been a ‘Bowling Green Massacre’. And yes, this is actually happening. And no, I don’t mean the Bowing Green Massacre.

Here’s how Twitter (a.k.a. the world) reacted:

The repute of Trump’s administration is becoming worse by the day, with Trump’s outbursts making the headlines on a daily basis. Yesterday, at the National Prayer Breakfast (don’t ask. Americans, eh?) Trump used this opportunity to ask attendees to pray for Arnold Schwarzenegger, who after taking over Trump’s position in the show The Apprentice, has made “the ratings run right down the tubes.” “It’s been a total disaster.”636216285448653787-trump-schwarzenegger-1x1 Schwarzenegger than replied on a video he posted on Twitter, challenging Trump that they should switch jobs, “so the American people can sleep in peace at night.”

Trump also caused controversy by apparently closing the phone on the Australian PM after saying “this has been the worst call by far” with any world leader. He also threatened to send the US military into Mexico if Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto failed to sort out the quote-unquote, “bad hombres.”

While Conway told a flat out lie, (or lives in an “alternative” universe perhaps?) the Obama administration did tighten up the screening process for Iraqi refugees after two Iraqi refugees, Mohanad Shareef Hammadi and Waad Ramadan Alwan, were arrested for trying to send money to Al-Qaeda in 2011. They had been living in Bowling Green, Kentucky and admitted to participating in IED attacks on soldiers in Iraq.

Were you effected by the Bowling Green Massacre?

The answer is no, you were not.

But the refugees looking to reside in the US are certainly facing the fallout of it.
