After September 2020, parents will not have a right to withdraw their children from RSE.
From September 2020 it will be compulsory for Relationship and Sex Education to be taught in all Primary Schools. All children from 4-16 will be required to attend these classes. Some schools have already started teaching RSE.
RSE will expose children from as young as 4 to sexualised concepts.
Schools have generally been requested to adopt an ethos that is open to all forms of sexual orientation. Under the new programme, children will likely be encouraged to question their gender.
Schools have been advised to receive advice and content from numerous LGBTQ organisations such as Stonewall, Brook, and Family Planning Association. Such content and resources provided by these organisations include graphic images of nudity and sexual content, with a focus on encouraging sexual exploration.
These changes may also be introduced into national curriculum subjects such as Science and English.
After September 2020, parents will not have a right to withdraw their children from RSE, although they will have the right to opt out of sex education at Primary School. It is still important to understand though that many subjects of concern will be taught in RSE.
