Muslim Charities Unite To Support Rough Sleepers In The UK During King’s Coronation Weekend

“Although not making the headlines anymore, the cost of living crisis remains unresolved. Tragically, just last week, experts warned of an 85% rise in deaths among the homeless since three years ago. We must do all we can for those forced onto the streets or living rough.”

As the cost of living soars across the UK, homelessness has become a grave issue, affecting even more people.

To help tackle this problem, charities Stanmore Jafferys (SJ) and Hand on Heart (HoH) have joined forces during The Big Help Out to assist hundreds of homeless individuals and rough sleepers across the country at the “Stanmore Jafferys Racquet Sports Festival.”

The festival, set to take place on Monday 8th May at the Royal Masonic School in Rickmansworth, is expected to draw 1,000 people. At the event, HoH charitable trust, with the help of volunteers, will assemble hygiene packs filled with new clothes and toiletries. The packs will be handed out to people who are homeless in Slough later that day.

Afzal Pradhan BEM, the HoH Trustee, stated:

“Although not making the headlines anymore, the cost of living crisis remains unresolved. More individuals than ever are turning up at our distributions to receive the essential kits we provide. Tragically, just last week, experts warned of an 85% rise in deaths among the homeless since three years ago. We must do all we can for those forced onto the streets or living rough, and HoH is thrilled to collaborate with SJ to have festival attendees pack essential kits for the homeless.

“The Big Help Out coincides with the King’s Coronation weekend, where thousands of organizations across the country will mark Monday the 8th of May as an opportunity for volunteers to come together and help out in their own local communities. This task is an excellent opportunity for charities to collaborate together to make a difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping in the UK. It will go some way to help provide basic essentials and support to those in need.”

Wasim Fazel, the head of partnership engagements for Stanmore Jafferys, added:

“It’s an honor to host Hand on Heart at our racquet sports festival. We are expecting over 1,000 attendees and it’ll be a great opportunity to encourage participating families and children to do some good during The Big Help Out and for us to raise awareness of the homelessness crisis across the UK.”
