The charity organization Penny Appeal is currently in the middle of their Winter Emergency program – which helps combat the suffering many of those most vulnerable go through during the harsh winter months.
Already on the ground in Syria, Yemen, Palestine, Pakistan, Lebanon, Turkey, and in Kashmir, Penny Appeal is collecting donations to go towards providing warmth this winter. Donations will help provide those in need with winter clothing and blankets, food packs, fuel for heaters, and other essentials needed for the winter months.
In Syria alone, 6.5 million internally displaced people are suffering without adequate heating in the numerous refugee camps across the country. In what is being called one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world, civilians in Yemen suffering from the war are left starving and vulnerable to diseases from harsh winter conditions. And in Palestine, 1 in 3 people are living below the poverty line – making it difficult to survive the cold months of the season.
For as little as £30, you could provide 3 winter blankets to those in need – and Penny Appeal has also provided numerous different options to choose from when wanting to provide the help and assistance those must vulnerable are in need of.
Last year alone, Penny Appeal helped provide warmth during the winter months to nearly 20,000 people in the regions the charity worked in – and this year the organization hopes to increase this number to insure more people are protected and cared for these winter months.
