Khairgiver is an American organization that was created to bring together urban Muslim communities and their local hospitals. Operating in New York City, Khairgiver has been a part of the annual Eid-ul-Adha toy drive since 2015, with last year’s drive seeing more than 700 toys donated to children’s hospitals in time for the holiday.
This year, Khairgiver is helping extend the toy drive across the country and not just in New York City, and will be donating toys to children’s hospitals in Dallas, San Francisco, Washington DC, and Chicago in addition to NYC.
Each hospital that is participating in this year’s Eid toy drive is linked to their Amazon Wish-List on Khairgiver’s website, and your donations can be made right off of each Amazon Wish-List. The toys purchased will be sent straight to the children’s hospitals.
Eid-ul-Adha is a time for all Muslims to come together, in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice made towards God. An animal is sacrificed in remembrance of Ibrahim’s commitment in his love for God, with one third of the animal given to the poor, another third given towards one’s home, and the final third given towards relatives or neighbors.
Charity is also given to those less fortunate, family and friends come together for worship, and children are often given gifts in celebration of God’s mercy towards the Prophet Ibrahim and his son.
In an act of remembrance towards our duty and love towards God, why not donate towards the gift of joy for children in hospitals across the U.S. this year? Learn more at Khairgiver’s website here, where you can find links to make donations at the hospital of your choosing.
This year’s Eid toy drive is only until the 9th of August, so be sure to act quickly!
