The international humanitarian charity, Penny Appeal, has partnered with the Bradford-based Regal Foods in north England to help donate essential food items and hygiene packs to the NHS staff at the Bradford Royal Infirmary during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

NHS staff, nurses, and doctors are at the frontline in the battle against the growing COVID-19 outbreak in the UK, and their heroism during these trying times have inspired the country into giving back in whatever way they can.

Regal Foods’ Saled Director, Waqar Younis, stated:

As a family run business, we believe it is our duty to give back to our community during this unprecedented crisis. We are really pleased to be partnering with Yorkshire-based charity, Penny Appeal, in getting these items to our devoted NHS staff who are putting themselves at risk everyday. This is just a small token of our appreciation.”

As the NHS and other essential workers continue to put their lives on the line in stopping the spread of the virus as well as treating those with COVID-19, in these trying times it remains essential that we continue to support them and honor their dedication and sacrifices.

According to the World Health Organization, the UK remains heavily damaged from COVID-19, with more than 55,000 cases of the virus and over 6,000 deaths.

Penny Appeal’s Interim CEO Harris Iqbal has stated in regards to the pandemic and Penny Appeal’s work amidst the crisis:

For Penny Appeal, charity begins at home and we’re honoured to be partnering with Regal Foods in supporting our front-line NHS staff during this pandemic…Penny Appeal is here for them in their hour in need. No one should suffer alone.”

Penny Appeal is also working with a number of other partners in a collective response to COVID-19, including its “Listening Line” service, which offers an active-listening, support, and befriending service for those struggling with self-isolation or mental stress during these trying times. The “Listening Line” number is 0300 303 1360.
