Zakat Foundation of America Reunites “Allah Made Me Funny” Comedians on Eid-in-Place Show

Who remembers how ground-breaking the now award-winning Allah Made Me Funny comedy tour was back in the day? It was exciting to see Muslims in the spotlight talking about what made our community special, yet funny. Comedians Azhar Usman, Preacher Moss, and Mo Amer were able to create magic by weaving in the Muslim-American experience with comedy to combat Islamophobia. It was a time when we could gather as a community to laugh. 

So how can we gather as a community now?

Sometimes it takes unprecedented times to unite people. We live in a time where Eid must take place in our homes. We won’t be celebrating in masjids, parks, or even parking lots. We will be missing our Muslim communities on Eid.    

The important question now is: How can we stay connected?

Zakat Foundation of America has stepped up to offer a free, live, family-friendly virtual show called Eid-In-Place on Sunday, May 24, 2020. The show will be a once-in-a-lifetime way for the Muslim community to celebrate the joyous occasion of Eid-al-Fitr together virtually.

Co-hosted by comedians Azhar Usman, Paul Elia, and Danish Maqbool, the show features artists who are celebrated by a global audience: 

• Highly respected Hip-Hop artist, activist, and community leader Brother Ali (Fallon, Conan) 
• Rising comedy star Zainab Johnson (Amazon’s UPLOAD, Netflix’s 100 Humans)
• Poet, recording artist, Harvard Fellow Amir Sulaiman (HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, RAMY)
• Award-winning British comedian Shazia Mirza (BBC, Last Comic Standing)
• Musical pioneers Pearls of Islam (The Rabbani Project)
• Mohammed Ali — a UK-based art director who has been fusing artwork with social commentary

The Allah Made Me Funny comedians have reunited for the first time since 2015!  

As if this lineup wasn’t exciting enough, the Zakat Foundation of America announced that the Eid-In-Place show will showcase a reunion of the Allah Made Me Funny comedians! That’s right, Azhar Usman will be joined by Preacher Moss, Mo Amer. Also joining the show as a special guest is Guz Khan! You heard it here first, on The Muslim Vibe. They plan to get together for a few laughs and a walk down memory lane.
