The main thing many people assume about America is that it’s a Zionist country that only cares about getting its hands on oil and conquering the world. These assumptions may have truth in them, but we will not get into the vast abyss of evils the American government is. It’s known that the people of the world do not represent the system that governs them. Instead, we will look at how the United States actually accepts Islam as the third-largest faith in America.
A surprising number of people outside of the United States think that Muslims here are constricted and controlled when it comes to our faith. All thanks to the mainstream media of course, which helps fuel this misconception. Originally the United States had an open mind about Islam and its teachings. In 1776, John Adams (the 2nd president of the USA) published a book called Thoughts on Government, in which he praises Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as a “sober inquirer after truth.” [pullquote]Islam is the fastest growing religion in America in the last 10 years[/pullquote]
Thomas Jefferson was also known for referencing the Quran when building the foundations of this country, and even owned a copy of it himself. The fact that Jefferson owned a Quran demonstrates that from the very beginning of this country, there were people who were visionary, who were religiously tolerant, who believed that knowledge and wisdom could be gleaned from any number of sources, including the Holy Quran.
Islam is the fastest growing religion in America in the last 10 years. There are countless non-Muslims (from all over the world as well as in America) with little knowledge about Islam who decide to learn more about this religion themselves. Many of them later decide to convert. In fact, Islam is the fastest growing religion in America in the last 10 years, with 2.6 million American adults as Muslim, and about 20 percent had converted.
It’s estimated that about 1/3 of the Muslims in the US are African-Americans. Another third are originally from the Indian subcontinent, including Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. The last third include Arab immigrants, Latinos, other European and Caucasian Muslims. Big cites like San Diego, Detroit, New York, and Atlanta are inhabited by Muslims of all nationalities. Contrary to the smaller communities, that harbor more racists and bigots because of the lack of diversity.
It’s important to keep in mind that everything Muslims do is an act of dawah. Every sign, every rally makes a difference because most Americans tend to look outside their front doors to observe how Muslims act, not how Fox News tells them they do.
“I visit Fox News every now and again, and it’s nice, because the Eye of Mordor is above the building.” ~Jon Stewart
People are blinded by the lies and hate that gets propagated from ignorance. They often forget the foundations of this country and what it was built on. The First Amendment of the United States Constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion and impeding the free exercise of religion.
“All men (and women) are created equal, and we all are one nation under Almighty God,” is a statement according to the Holy Quran and is very well elucidated in the U.S. Constitution.
America is home to one of the most diverse Muslim populations in the world, including people of almost every ethnicity, country and school of thought. Despite all the racism and violence we see on the news, there is indeed a brotherhood between the different faiths and religions. Within the cultural diversity of these communities, there is a tolerance for each other’s belief, but unfortunately this toleration doesn’t make headline news. With more exposure and understanding, we hope that this and the generations to come won’t be so easily swayed.
