5 Way Islam and Palestine Are Connected

Palestine holds immense significance due to the holy land’s Islamic heritage. From its cultural history to its religious importance, Palestine remains one of the most powerful and beautiful places for Muslims around the world.

Here are just 5 ways Palestine and Islam are connected:

1. Prophetic Legacy

Many Prophets of Islam are deeply connected to the land of Palestine. Prophets Isa, Sulayman, Ibrahim, and Ishaaq lived and worked there while Prophet Yaqub was buried in its precincts.

And, of course, Prophet Musa took his people to Palestine after freeing them from the tyrannical rule of Firawn.

2. Islam’s First Qibla

Masjid al-Aqsa served as Islam’s first qiblah. In the early days of Prophethood, the Prophet Muhammed and his companions prayed facing Jerusalem.

They continued to do so until Allah instructed them to face Masjid al-Haram instead.

3. A Place of Miracles

The Prophet Muhammed’s miraculous night journey took him from Makkah to Masjid al-Aqsa in a matter of minutes.

Upon reaching Al-Aqsa, he prayed a two-unit prayer. After finishing the prayer, Allah took him to the heavens.

4. Quranic References

Allah has labeled Palestine as the “holy land” in 5:21 when instructing Musa and his people to enter into its vicinity.

Allah also refers to it as a land “We had blessed” in 10:93 when mentioning the story of Sulayman, who ruled from Jerusalem.

5. Prophet Isa and Imam Mahdi

When Imam Mahdi reappears to spread justice across the world, one of his notable victories will be against the Sufyani in Palestine.

According to Sahih Muslim, Prophet Isa will descend from heaven back to earth in Palestine and pray with Imam Mahdi.
