Teach Me Islam: A New Islamic Tutor App is Available!

Hoping to connect people from a diverse array of cultures, age ranges, and socio-economic backgrounds, an app like this has the potential to connect people based on their passion to learn, and not just what might be available locally.

February has seen the exciting launch of the Teach Me Islam App (TMI), created by Nabeela Raza, a 25 year old female entrepreneur. TMI was created specifically to allow parents and students to browse and choose from a list of Islamic tutor profiles, all while being able to check their qualifications and backgrounds.

Before the launch of the app, many parents and students had only the option of going to mass learning, usually in a mosque or classroom with 15-30 students all trying to learn from one teacher. Oftentimes, with so-called ‘old-school’ methods of teachings, the students do not benefit fully and the teachers may not even have adequate credentials.

With the new Teach Me Islam App, Nabeela hoped to create a new community where Islamic tutoring can be chosen for better convenience, more regulation, and a better experience for the students themselves. TMI caters to students of all ages, with both male and female tutors to choose from the list on the app.

Nabeela explained what inspired her to create an app like this:

Since graduating I have made it my goal to spread love, unity and education through the beautiful teachings of Islam in the most interactive, relevant and joyful way for the youth and of the 21st century.”

Privately educated at the University Jamea Al Kauthar in Lancaster, Nabeela graduated with a Masters in Islamic Theology and Jurisprudence. Also an Early Years educator, since 2014 Nabeela has been tutoring students in Islamic education – and it was then that she saw the huge lack of Islamic tutors available for students and children.

Hoping that the Teach Me Islam App will create a system of like-minded students and tutors who want to collectively build up a community of learning about Islam, an initiative like this remains crucial to both better ourselves as well as our wider society. Also hoping to connect people from a diverse array of cultures, age ranges, and socio-economic backgrounds, an app like this has the potential to connect people based on their passion to learn, and not just what might be available locally.
