Latest statement from Islamic Movement in Nigeria regarding the Zaria massacre

Last week the Nigerian army attacked the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, and according to several reports killing over 800 unarmed civilians, and capturing dozens of members including the leader of the movement Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky.

The peaceful movement which includes Muslims of all sects, speaks out against the Zionist occupation of Palestine as well as Boko Haram and other domestic policy matters.

Below is an official statement from one of its members:

In the name of Allah, the destroyer of tyrants

The alleged assassination attempt as traded by the spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, has now come to be known what it really was – an orchestrated work of Zionists who oversee the training of the killing squad that is supposedly the ‘NIGERIAN ARMY’ who recently besieged Husainiyya Baqiyyatullah and the residence of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria.

The brutal and crude act of pitiless incendiary against innocent defenceless victims and the all out assault on the Sheikh’s house in Zaria on Saturday, 12th December, 2015 was one of the closest attempts yet by agents of the Zionists to silence the heralder of ‘the voice of human justice’ in the African sub-continent.

The mischievous script was hatched and executed to stage false flag alarm of ‘violent ‘sect’ seen to be fomenting trouble as the COAS was on his way to pay homage as well as attend POP in Zaria.’ But the trend of clandestine acts of desperate moves as made and mooted by the spokesperson of the Nigerian Army exposed the reason why they keep issuing incoherent statements for their dastardly attack at Husainiyya after an initial sporadic shooting and taking away the corpses to their barrack and subsequently besieging the place for many hours before their final onslaughts.

The second mantra of the evil plot was the unimaginable carnage unleashed and the barbaric genocide to exterminate and uproot all Shiites as the soldiers advanced on a killing spree towards the Sheikh’s house chanting mocking-cum-sinister slogan: “Ba shi’a ba kayanta.” They shot and shelled all our brothers in a way unimaginable.

Contrary to what was made to circulate in both print and electronic media, what happened was never a clash between two groups, but an act of genocide. The soldiers were jubilating that they have finished with the “shiites” while publically their commanders commended and hailed the massacre that took place at Husainiyya, Darur Rahma and the Sheikh’s residence.

What exposes their crime as genocide was the mutilations and burning made on both the injured and those massacred. The feral assault did not stop at killing and mutations, some of survivors said they saw how others were gathered and burnt to death among corpses!

In desperate and frenzied move to hide their heinous crime they resorted to mass graves and burning hundreds of corpses in different locations. At the house of the Sheikh, an estimated 5,000 people are feared to be either killed or injured as at this time.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria in its almost 40 years formation has always been peaceful, as such no amount of oppression and repression can make us to lose focus of the principle and values it so much invested in form of the highest sacrifice. Allah Ta’ala will definitely help His oppressed servants.

In view of all the above, we hereby call on all peace lovers and the International Community to join us in condemning the act for what it is – Genocide. In addition, we will like to state the following:

(1) Members of the Movement demand the unconditional release of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H) as a means of taming the situation from further escalation.

(2) All corpses of slain brothers and sisters must be handed over to us for proper Islamic burial.

(3) All detainees must be released together with the injured for medical attention.

(4) A strong and all inclusive committee must be set up that include local and international representation to investigate and make public its findings for the world to know the truth.

(5) Compensation must be paid for the loss of lives and property, and those who committed the genocide must be made to face the wrath of the law.
