My current illustrations express the turbulent first days after Trump was elected President.
The Day Before
Anxious. I gather the courage to surrender. Waiting to breathe a sigh of relief tomorrow.
The Day After
Reassuring my kids
Who won? They ask when they wake up. I smile. I hug them. I tell them not to worry. Will we have to leave America? They ask.
At the grocery store, an older lady tells me my hijab is beautiful. Her kind words expand my constricted heart.
Finding Strength Together
Resentment is not me. I struggle to release it and increase my compassion and understanding. I fail. I try again.
Ready for Action
With my spiritual lens in focus, I prepare for the hurdles ahead.
Refusal to go backward is how I intend to move forward.
Locally, nationally…there’s much to be done.
Let the healing begin.
