Background

As the coronavirus spreads across the Middle East, there is growing concern that Syria is likely to face a major outbreak – which would be catastrophic in a country already ravaged by nine years of war.

According to the World Health Organisation, only half of Syrian hospitals are functional, and there’s a huge lack of doctors, medical equipment, and medication in the country.

The war in Syria began 9 years ago and the humanitarian crisis is the worst it has ever been. This Ramadan, with your help, TMV hopes to raise £50,000 for those most in need.

Where your donations will go

We traveled out to Turkey with Penny Appeal to help them prepare food parcels and hygiene kits to be delivered along with tents to Syrian refugees and internally displaced families within Syria.

With Covid-19 plaguing vulnerable individuals across the globe, this aid will be prioritised for families affected by coronavirus and whilst the tents were due to be used for housing solely, given the global pandemic, some are being prepared as sterile testing and treatment centres for those infected with the virus.

Alongside this essential emergency aid, some of the funds we raise will also go towards the running of a mobile health clinic. The mobile clinic we would like to support will provide gynecological and antenatal support to pregnant and non-pregnant women and will also offer psychosocial support to women who have suffered psychological trauma. The clinic will also have a GP with pediatric qualifications to provide medical care and assistance to children.

Please help us reach our target of £50,000 for those most in need in Syria!
