Where Does Your Udhiya/Qurbani Donation Go?

“So, mention the name of Allah upon them when lined up [for sacrifice], and when they are [lifeless] on their sides, then eat from them and feed the needy and the beggar…Thus, have We subjected them to you that you may glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and give good tidings to the doers of good” (Quran 22:36-37).

What is Udhiyah/Qurbani?

During the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah, Muslims get ready to slaughter a livestock animal (sheep, goat, cow or camel). This rite is to honor the Prophet Abraham (on him be peace) when he was ready to sacrifice his son Ishmael (on him be peace) when God commanded him. This ritual is known as Udhiyah or Qurbani, which means an offering or sacrifice. The meat gets distributed among the needy and poor among us.

In the Quran, God speaks of the importance of this sacrifice

“And the camels and cattle We have appointed for you as among the symbols of Allah, for you therein is good. So, mention the name of Allah upon them when lined up [for sacrifice], and when they are [lifeless] on their sides, then eat from them and feed the needy and the beggar. Thus, have We subjected them to you that you may be grateful. Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you. Thus, have We subjected them to you that you may glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and give good tidings to the doers of good” (Quran 22:36-37).

Muslims can make this sacrifice locally or offer this sacrifice internationally, where it is most needed. You can easily set up your Udhiyah/Qurbani online with charitable organizations such as the Zakat Foundation of America. What happens next?

Your Order Is Set Up

Your order gets submitted to field workers in your country of choice (or where it is most needed). These field workers have worked hard to ensure the livestock has been well cared for. The animal is happy, healthy, and humanely raised.

Your Udhiyah/Qurbani is Hand-Slaughtered

Our field workers hand-slaughter your Udhiyah/Qurbani according to Islamic guidelines. It is then prepared and packaged for distribution to the poor and needy. It is never frozen or canned: it is always delivered fresh.

The Udhiyah Qurbani is Hand-Delivered

At the Zakat Foundation of America, we work to hand-deliver this fresh meat. It is gifted to those who need it most: widows, orphans, refugees, and the hunger-stricken. We deliver this rare treat to the needy in 40 countries.

Bringing Joy and Relief

Your Udhiyah/Qurbani brings priceless joy. From India to Rwanda, Yemen to Pakistan, Bosnia to Syria, Palestine to Kenya, El Salvador, and more.

Receive the Duas and Prayers of the Needy

People like Sheerin Banu are waiting for the generosity of donors like you. Sheerin Banu is a 24-year-old widow with young children in India. After receiving her Qurbani meat, Sheerin Banu gleamed with delight.

“I am so happy because my children have been looking forward to eating delicious and healthy fresh meat for Eid,” she said.

She hurried home to prepare the meat for her family and wanted to see the children’s happiness. “This meat donation is essential for poor, needy people like us. As poor people, we cannot give our own Qurbani. I’m thankful to the Zakat Foundation of America and donors who support us with this meat. May Almighty Allah reward them with all happiness and increase their welfare to support other needy people in the world.”
