Note: As we are still in the midst of a pandemic, we urge everyone to take all necessary precautions when attending public events and to follow local guidelines on social distancing.

Organized by The Bay Area Halal Foodies (BAHF), the US will be seeing its first-ever Halal Restaurant Week, to be open the second week of December in the San Francisco Bay Area.

From December 9th to the 13th, the San Francisco Bay Area will host halal restaurants in an event coordinated by both The Bay Area Halal Foodies (BAHF) and Halalfest, Inc. – and will reportedly be the first of its kind ever for the United States to focus solely on halal food.

Restaurants participating in the halal food week will be featuring special discounts and freebies for people joining in the event, with different restaurants featured on each day. Some of the featured vendors include Krusti Pizza and Pasta in San Jose, Maya Halal Taqueria in Oakland, Falafel Flame in Dublin, iniBurger in Pleasanton, Mela Tandoori and Kinara Fusion in San Francisco, Lados in Sunnyvale, New York Pizza, and Kebab in Union City and El Halal Amigos (taco truck) in Newark.

In addition to being able to taste and try halal food from different restaurants, the organizers of the event will also provide over $1,500 worth of incentives which include commemorative merchandise, gift cards, and free halal food products. Eaters at the event can earn points by visiting different restaurants and competing in challenges – and the prizes will be awarded to the top-scoring foodies.

Yasmeen Rasheed, a member of The Bay Area Halal Foodies Facebook group, stated:

As a Muslim who’s lived in quite a few places, I’ve never seen such a cool initiative like this. This is an opportunity to really bolster enthusiasm around supporting the businesses of our beloved brothers and sisters, to bring communities together via food, and to raise the bar for delicious halal food.”

Admission to Halal Restaurant Week is completely free – and to participate, all people need to do is mention Halal Restaurant Week at the participating restaurants to unlock the special offer and start earning points.
