From its inception, Sparkena set out to fulfill the need of women across the globe who treasure their modesty and cherish their active lifestyle, while caring for the environment.

Modest fashion showers women with a plethora of brands, but very few – if not none – have considered the impact on the planet. Yet with the ever-growing climate crisis, the priorities of modest women have shifted towards a greener and more conscious fashion. It was only mandatory for a brand like Sparkena to emerge and offer eco-friendly and sophisticated modest workout gear.

Modest activewear has been around for a few years now, but most women still struggle to find modern, not-baggy, fitted designs that will allow them to work out without being noticed. Not only Sparkena offers slick and ingenious options, but also managed to reconcile modest fashion and ecology.

Sparkena is running on the principle that modest fashion and sustainability can coexist in symbiosis.

The founders of the brand claim to soon become eco-profitable. Sparkena has its products manufactured in China in order to offer reasonable prices. However, even if the made in China and eco profitable seems to be antagonistic, factories in China can be controlled. Thus, Sparkena tops are made in a factory where labor laws and working conditions are respected.

The real strength of the brand is its carbon offset and tree-planting policy. Sparkena has decided to allocate a percentage of their sales to the reforestation of developing countries around the world. They began their campaign in Madagascar. With only 10% of its original forests left, Madagascar is home to over 250 000 species of fauna and flora, most of which are severely endangered and do not exist anywhere else on the planet.

Eucalyptus and pine trees are planted for the well-being of the planet on undeveloped land so that they become forest land, accessible to everyone. By purchasing any item on the website and with the help of local organizations, a tree will be planted thanks to you, giving you the chance to leave a small, yet non-negligible positive footprint in the Malagasy ecosystem.

It does not stop there. Sparkena items come in a reusable zip-locked bag, and in the aim to reduce their carbon footprint, have gone fully paperless.

In the context of growing global inequality and increasing climate change impacts, the nascent status of the company leaves room for progress. Sparkena commits to become carbon-neutral through bio-degradable packaging, recyclable materials, and eco-friendly dyes.
