6 Duas to Recite for the Oppressed

“Our Lord! Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from You one who will protect, and raise for us from You one who will help” (Quran, 4:75)

“Our Lord! Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from You one who will protect, and raise for us from You one who will help” (Quran, 4:75)

Our duty as Muslims remains to stand with the oppressed, and against those who do evil.

And as we watch genocide and evil unspread across our Muslim ummah, we must do everything we can to protest, raise awareness, and give our voice to those who are suffering.

It’s also important to remember to offer as much prayer and dua as we can, as we remember that all sincere prayers made to Allah will never go unnoticed.

Here are just six duas we can recite for those who remain oppressed across the world.

1. So Help Me

Pray a two rakat prayer, and then say the following 100 times:

“I have been overcome, so help [me]”

(Taught by Imam Ali Ibn Abu Talib)

2. Rescue Us

Recite:

“Our Lord! Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from You one who will protect, and raise for us from You one who will help”

(Quran, 4:75)

3. For Your Sake I Fight

Recite:

“Oh Allah, You are my strength and You are my support. For Your sake I go forth and for Your sake I advance, and for Your sake I fight)

(Abu Dawud)

4. We Take Refuge in You

Recite:

“Oh Allah, we place You before them and we take refuge in You from their evil”

(Hisnul Muslim)

5. The Injustice of Rulers

Recite:

“Oh Allah, I seek refuge in You from the injustice of rulers and from the evil of the one who exercises power”

(Prophet Muhammed)

6. Allah is Sufficient

Recite:

“Allah is sufficient for us, and how fine a trustee He is”

(Quran, 3:175)
