Tharik is an award winning freelance broadcaster, journalist, travel writer, and photographer who specialises in the Islamic stories of the West. Tharik is a travel writer for Arab News and a Lonely Planet Guidebook Writer who worked on their first-ever guide to the Hajj pilgrimage. He is a regular contributor to Salaam Gateway and My Salaam and an expert on Halal/Muslim travel. Tharik’s debut BBC radio documentary ‘America’s Mosques; a story of integration’, won the ‘Best Religious Program of 2016’ award at the New York Festivals World’s Best Radio Programs Awards, and was later shortlisted for an AIB Award. In February 2017, Tharik was named on the British Bangladeshi Power and Inspiration 100 list. A graduate of Media and Culture, Tharik has a Masters in Islamic Studies and is also a qualified lecturer of media and sociology. He has lived in Asia and the Middle East and now resides in London, England. Tharik has travelled all over Europe and parts of the Muslim world. He regularly appears in mainstream and niche media. Tharik’s latest project is his debut book relating his travels across the Balkans with his family in search of the region’s Muslim heritage.
