It’s about time for Mr. President’s end of year performance review

When will America wake up and reverse the ugly and despicable decision made on November 8, 2016?

When will America wake up and reverse the ugly and despicable decision made on November 8, 2016?

The end of the year is here and alas, it is time for the year-end performance review for Mr. Trump. It has been one long year and finally, the first year of Trump’s presidency is over (though it seemed like 10 years or more). Has Trump fulfilled the role of Presidency of a country that is considered one of the most powerful across the globe?

What we witnessed this past year proved to be unlike any other year for any other president.

Across generations and civilizations, we have observed a series of corrupt and unworthy rulers who take the seat of power, one after the other, and may prove to be submissive puppet sheep who blindly follow their bosses and feed their greed for power and materialism. Once in a while however, we find one who by far exceeds the limits of transgression, crosses the red lines, and steps over common human decency and consideration.

In every nation there are tyrants, and then there is that super-tyrant and transgressor who stands out among his tyrant and dictator peers. Figures like Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Joseph Stalin, Fidel Castro, Nicolae Ceausescu, Saddam Hussain, Muammar el-Ghadhafi come to mind when we say this.

Today, we find the 45th President of the United States of America, Mr. Trump, who has proved beyond a reasonable doubt, even among members of the Republican Party, to be one who has misrepresented and degraded the seat of Presidency, be it through engaging in unethical and inappropriate behaviour uttering statements that no other President has, making audacious and unwise decisions that raise the eyebrows to the point that his sanity is doubted, his credibility is questioned, or in just 100 days of his presidency having polls that show the lowest approval ratings of any President in modern history. He is the only other President in the past 70 years to come close to Gerald Ford, whose approval fell from 71% to 48% at the start of his term, after he pardoned Richard Nixon.

According to CCN, as of December 2017, Trump’s approval rating is at 32%, according to a recent new poll released by the Pew Research Center.

Here are some of the most disdainful and unwise decision or policies carried out by Mr. Trump this year:

  1. Trump kicked off the year by issuing an Executive Order for the Muslim ban that he promised at the beginning of his campaign. By signing it, he threw the immigration system into chaos, encouraged the stereotype that immigrants and refugees are immoral and dangerous people, and fuelled anti-American opinions around the world. Interfering with the due process rights of immigrants with residences and jobs in the U.S., and physically separating mothers and fathers from their children solely based on where they happen to be travelling abroad, the order was needlessly cruel and poorly executed, and lacked any true legitimate justification. A variation of the ban is in effect today.
  2. Trump’s Twitter addiction made him unique compared his predecessors. Perhaps his biggest downfall is his careless use of Twitter to bully his critics. Since his election, the president has tweeted at least 2,500 times, and The Times have reported that since his candidacy, Trump has insulted 394 people, places, and things on Twitter. His careless use of Twitter has been a subject of political analysis and provoked debates about its legal, ethical, and political implications. Trump has indeed shown that the presidency is too much for his thin skin and his actions and words are far from presidential!
  3. Threatening military action against North Korea by warning Pyongyang that they will see “fire and fury like the world as never seen” was not a wise move and surprised even his national security team, leading to a failed American policy with the North Korea crisis. A president should exercise caution and wisdom when it comes to foreign policy, the lack of this essential element is present with Trump.
  4. Trump’s response to deadly clashes at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville ranks among the most depressing moments in modern U.S. history. The Washington Post-ABCN News poll found that 56% of Americans disapproved of Trump’s response. The President cemented himself as an openly racist President.
  5. The declaration of Jerusalem as Capital of Israel is by far his most audacious and reckless decision, which clearly demonstrates his lack of care for the peace process in the for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict which has existed for decades. To end off the year, it’s almost as if Trump is trying to score some points to please his Zionist bosses so that he receives a good performance review and reward. As a result, the Muslim and Arab world is devastated, and tensions in the Middle East are ever more increased and expected to heighten.

This has all happened in less than a year. Now imagine what America will have to suffer under his presidency for the next 3 years! It seems like these reckless decisions, statements, and behaviour continue while affecting innocent people, both domestically and abroad. It is therefore important that Americans seek to implement the country’s constitutional values based on the pursuit of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It’s time for America to wake up.
