Here’s what you can do to join and help!
From the organization Friends of Al Aqsa (FOA), there has been a viral campaign called #HandsoffAlAqsa – this campaign is all about educating people about the significance of Masjid al-Aqsa as the third-holiest site in Islam, which is currently physically deteriorating under the Israeli occupation.
By putting al-Aqsa on the global political agenda, FOA hopes to protect Masjid al-Aqsa from occupation and preserve this fundamentally sacred space.
For the past six years, FOA has also been running an annual event focused on the plight as well as the importance of Masjid Al-Aqsa. Aqsa Week is a week full of workshops, talks, and activities dedicated to this sacred sanctuary.
FOA has listed out five different ways we can all take part in as well, to help raise awareness and protect the holy site of Al Aqsa. Here are some of the steps we can take today:
1. Write to your MP to condemn attacks on Al-Aqsa
Write to your MP to: Condemn Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque. Call on the government to immediately stop sale of all military equipment/hardware to Israel. And call to impose sanctions on Israel for breaking international law.
2. Order Forty Ahadith of Masjid Al-Aqsa
Order ‘Forty Ahadith of Masjid Al-Aqsa’ for your local mosque. This booklet intends to rekindle your love, affection, and devotion to Masjid al-Aqsa with forty ahadith about the Holy site. You can distribute or leave it in the mosque for other worshippers at your mosque.
3. Visit Al-Aqsa
Visit Masjid Al-Aqsa to grow your love for the holy site and to make sure it is never empty.
4. Khutba for Masjid Al-Aqsa
In light of the ongoing violence in Masjid Al-Aqsa, please dedicate a Khutba about Masjid Al Aqsa so that your congregation can be reminded of the struggle in Palestine. You can find a template here.
5. Learn and Spread Resources on Al-Aqsa
