In what is being deemed as one of the worst atrocities committed by Israel so far, Israel has bombed a hospital in Gaza City on Tuesday evening.

Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, which was packed with wounded and sheltering Palstinian civilians, is an Anglican Christian-run hospital that was providing treatment and shelter to hundreds of civilians wounded and displaced by Israel’s war.

At least 500 civilians are reported to have been killed so far, with scores of them children and babies.

The Palestinian Health Ministry has stated that the hospital had received threats from the Israeli army that the hospital would be bombed and to evacuate – meaning that Israel had the clear intention of bombing and killing civilians in the hospital.

This “war crime”, as described by numerous human rights groups and now politicians, has sparked massive outrage across the world as Israel continues to commit what many are now conceding to be genocidal acts.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have now called for an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to address the Israel-Palestine war.

Jordan’s King Abdullah has called Israel’s bombing of the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City a “heinous war crime”, stating that “Israel must end its brutal aggression on Gaza”.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned the attack, and stated immediately after that bombing a hospital shows the attacker is “devoid of the most basic human values”.

The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed he was horrified by the strike on al-Ahli al-Arab Hospital in Gaza City, although he was silent on who was to blame. “Hospitals and medical personnel are protected under international humanitarian law”, he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian ambassador to the United Nations said Arab countries, stated: “We hold Israel responsible for this massacre and crime. Those responsible should face justice and accountability and punishment”.

Humanitarian organization Medicines Sans Frontiers (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, stated: “We are horrified by the recent Israeli bombing of Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, which was treating patients and hosting displaced Gazans. Hundreds of people have reportedly been killed. This is a massacre. It is absolutely unacceptable. Nothing justifies this shocking attack on a hospital and its many patients and health workers, as well as the people who sought shelter there. Hospitals are not a target. This bloodshed must stop. Enough is enough.”

Global protests have already begun, denouncing the attack, taking place so far in the West Bank, Syria, Tunisia, Spain, Berlin, Turkey and Lebanon. In Jordan, protesters have stormed the Israeli embassy.
