Following the shooting of a New York City Imam and his associate on Saturday, there has been a lot being said across social media. The exact motive of the attack is still not yet known, but there has undoubtedly been an increase in Islamophobic and anti-Muslim hate crimes across America since the start of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. Many people have taken this most recent incident to vocalise their support for their Muslim neighbours, offering to accompany Muslims to and from their mosques so that they can pray in safety.
Here are some of the most heart-warming of responses from the hashtag that went viral over the weekend, #IllWalkWithYou:
To all my #Muslim friends:
I see you.
I love you. #IllWalkWithYou— Rabbi Latz (@RavMABAY) August 14, 2016
To my Muslim friends, neighbors, and strangers, #ILLWalkWithYou – in MI, in NY, wherever we meet…

Campaigns like #illwalkwithyou are a reminder that the best of America will always trump the worst of America. Pun intended.
