Al Quds Day is an annual international event dedicated to the rights of Palestinians against illegal Israeli occupation.
Typically held on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, rallies are held all over the world to protest Israel’s occupation of Palestine and the daily horror Palestinians live through under occupation.
The march has attracted hate from far-right Islamophobes like Katie Hopkins and pro-Zionist groups, often with counter-rallies being held. One petition asking Sadiq Khan to ban the rally clearly shows the effect it has on Israel’s reputation.
It is an essential obligation upon every able freedom-loving person to rally for Palestine and ensure the voices of the oppressed are heard by the world, demanding that Palestine be free from the shackles of occupation and humiliation.
It was originally established by Ayatollah Khomeini, who declared the liberation of Jerusalem a religious duty upon all Muslims. He also said,
“The Quds Day is a universal day. It is not an exclusive day for Quds itself. It is a day for the oppressed to rise and stand up against the arrogant.”
